Since February 19, 2025, the Islamic Republic of Iran has executed at least 36 prisoners. This statistic translates to an average of four executions per day or one execution every six hours. The sharp increase in executions has raised widespread concerns among human rights activists and international organizations.

Execution of Two Prisoners in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan
At dawn on Thursday, February 27, 2025, two prisoners named Morteza Jafari (Amouchi), 38, from Homayounshahr, and Javad Mohammadhani were executed. Both had been sentenced to death on drug-related charges.
Execution of Two Prisoners in Sepidar Prison, Ahvaz
In the early hours of Wednesday, February 26, 2025, a prisoner named Mir Mohammad Paridar, 62, from Tabriz, was executed in Sepidar Prison, Ahvaz. He had been arrested four years ago on drug-related charges.
Execution of a Prisoner in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj
On the same day, Alireza Basatiniya, 23, from Ilam, was executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj. He had been in custody for three years on murder charges.
Execution of a Prisoner in Kermanshah Prison
Behrouz Safari Qaleh Zanjiri, 34, a follower of the Yarsan faith, was executed in Kermanshah Prison at dawn on February 26. He had been arrested four years ago on murder charges.
Execution of a Prisoner in Birjand Prison
Abdullah Safarzahi, a married man and father of one child, was executed at dawn on February 26 in Birjand Prison. He had been sentenced to death for drug-related offenses and possession of a firearm.
Execution of Three Prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison
On the same morning, three other prisoners were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj. The identities of two of them were announced as Sajjad Eghbali from Kuhdasht and Mosib Azizi from Arak, both convicted of murder. The identity of the third prisoner was not disclosed, but he was reportedly convicted of “enmity against God” (moharebeh) through armed robbery.
Execution of a Prisoner in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz
In the early hours of Monday, February 24, 2025, Yousef Rostami, 34, from Khorramabad, was executed in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz. He had been in custody since October 2021 on murder charges.
Execution of Two Prisoners in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan
At dawn on Saturday, February 22, 2025, Mojtaba Khorramdel, 30, from Bandar Abbas, and Shahin Goudarzi, 40, from Boroujerd, were executed in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan. Khorramdel had been convicted of drug-related offenses, while Goudarzi was sentenced to death for murder.
Execution of Two Prisoners in Isfahan Central Prison
At dawn on Thursday, February 20, 2025, Hossein Goshoul, 32, and Behrouz Goshoul, 35, were executed in Isfahan Central Prison. These two brothers had been arrested six years ago on murder charges.
