At least nine prisoners, including one woman, were executed in various prisons across Iran in recent days. These executions took place in Arak, Khorramabad, Isfahan, Zahedan, Gachsaran, Nishapur, and Sabzevar. According to human rights sources, this brings the total number of executions in the past month to at least 181 individuals. In addition, 15 other prisoners have reportedly been transferred to solitary confinement in Ghezel Hesar Prison in preparation for their executions.
Executions by Location and Identity
Arak Central Prison
Rasoul Yari was executed on the morning of Sunday, September 21, 2025. He had been convicted on drug-related charges.
Khorramabad Central Prison
Payman Jamshidi was executed in the early hours of Sunday, September 21, 2025. He, too, had been sentenced to death for drug-related offenses.
Isfahan Central Prison
Vahid Ebrahimi, a resident of the Veldan neighborhood in Isfahan, was executed on Sunday, September 21, 2025, after being convicted of murder.
Abbas Yazdani, also from Isfahan, was executed earlier in the week, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. He had been imprisoned for six years on drug-related charges.
Additionally, two other prisoners, Sharif Behzadi and Noor Mohammad Changizi (Chogali), were also executed recently in Isfahan.
Zahedan Central Prison
Abdolaziz Qaljai, a 35-year-old father of four, was executed on Sunday, September 21, 2025. He had been arrested in 2022 on drug-related charges.
Gachsaran Prison
Hossein Mousavi, 31, a married father of two daughters from Abadan, was executed on Sunday, September 21, 2025. He had been sentenced to death following his 2018 arrest on drug-related charges.
Nishapur Prison
Fazel Sohrabi, 47, was executed on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. He had been convicted of murder and imprisoned for four years.
Sabzevar Prison
In the early hours of Wednesday, September 17, 2025, two prisoners, including one woman, were executed. The identity of the executed man has been confirmed as Payman Khani. The woman’s identity remains unconfirmed. Both were reportedly arrested in 2020 in a joint case involving murder charges.
Transfer of Prisoners for Execution in Qezel Hesar
On the morning of Sunday, September 21, 2025, at least 15 prisoners were moved to solitary confinement in Qezel Hesar Prison, located in Karaj, west of Tehran. The transfers are presumed to be in preparation for imminent executions. No information has been released about the identities or legal cases of these individuals at this time.
