128th Week of “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 57 Prisons Across Iran

July 7, 2026
FacebookTwitterEmail

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign entered its 128th consecutive week with the continuation of the hunger strike by political and ideological prisoners in 57 different prisons across the country. Condemning the issuance of unjust death sentences for political and civil activists and protesting the reinstatement of Mohseni-Ejei as the head of the Judiciary, the strikers have described these actions as a serious threat to human rights in Iran. Publishing a statement, the members of this campaign have called on all international bodies and the awakened consciences of the world to immediately react to this human tragedy and pressure the Iranian regime to respect the principles of fair trial and halt the implementation of life-depriving sentences.

Please find the full text of the statement of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign below:

Continuation of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign in its 128th week in 57 different prisons

The reinstatement of Mohseni-Ejei is a serious threat to prisoners and human rights in Iran.

On the eve of July 9, the anniversary of the death of students on July 9, 1999, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign honors the memory of those who lost their lives on the path to freedom and equality-a day when the students’ protest was suppressed by the ruling regime, leaving the university dormitory drenched in blood.

According to published statistics, the illegitimate regime of “Velayat-e Faqih” (absolute clerical rule) has hanged at least 15 people since June 22, 2026, and has issued inhumane death sentences for a number of general and political prisoners. Last week, Judge Salavati issued a medieval death sentence for Arghavan Fallahi, a female political prisoner held in the women’s ward of Evin Prison. This sentence was issued by this notorious judge while the case proceedings took place under unjust conditions and under pressure from security agencies.

Furthermore, death sentences have been issued for several detainees of the January 2026 uprising, among which the death sentence of Kamal Khan-Bahaei in Choobindar Prison of Qazvin can be mentioned. Likewise, Vahid Khan-Sanami, imprisoned in the Greater Tehran Prison, was sentenced to death in an unfair process meant to terrorize society.

These inhumane sentences are being issued while recently, Mohseni-Ejei, the head of the state judiciary, was once again reinstated in his position by the authoritarian ruler, Mojtaba Khamenei. Ejei has a record entirely of human rights violations and, in the last four years, has set the record for the highest number of death sentences in the past three decades. While condemning the unjust death sentences, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign calls upon all international bodies and awakened consciences to react to the human tragedy unfolding in Iran’s prisons.

Death sentences are essentially issued behind closed doors and through mental and physical pressure and torture in interrogation rooms. Therefore, it is essential for everyone, in any way possible, to take serious action to pressure the regime to respect the principles of fair trial, particularly the holding of public trials for cases where the charges brought lead to the deprivation of life and death sentences. In conclusion, it is worth mentioning that during this period, many have produced content for us in support of the campaign or have requested that their “no to execution” content be published through the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign.

This campaign is nationwide and belongs to all striking prisoners of all tendencies; therefore, its demand is inclusive and goes beyond groups, parties, and factions. In addition, numerous materials are sent to the campaign’s pages. If we have not republished the submitted content on the campaign’s social media pages, the first reason is so that this campaign remains beyond political groups and tendencies, belonging to all its members, supporters, and opponents of execution. The second reason is that the primary goal of the campaign’s social media pages is to disseminate weekly statements and build an archive of these statements.

We are grateful to the campaign’s supporters and all opponents of execution for producing content and creating progressive anti-execution and right-to-life movements, and we warmly shake everyone’s hands. Undoubtedly, with collective resistance and solidarity against execution, we will prevail! On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in its 128th week, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is on hunger strike in the following 57 prisons:

Evin Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Ghezel Hesar Prison (units 2, 3, and 4), Karaj Central Prison, Fardis Prison of Karaj, Greater Tehran Prison, Qarchak Prison, Khorin Prison of Varamin, Choobindar Prison of Qazvin, Ahar Prison, Arak Prison, Langaroud Prison of Qom, Khorramabad Prison, Borujerd Prison, Yasuj Prison, Asadabad Prison of Isfahan, Dastgerd Prison of Isfahan, Sheiban Prison of Ahvaz, Sepidar Prison of Ahvaz (women’s and men’s wards), Nezam Prison of Shiraz, Adelabad Prison of Shiraz (women’s and men’s wards), Firozabad Prison of Fars, Dehdasht Prison, Zahedan Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Borazjan Prison, Ramhormoz Prison, Behbahan Prison, Bam Prison, Yazd Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Kahnuj Prison, Tabas Prison, Birjand Central Prison, Mashhad Prison, Gorgan Prison, Sabzevar Prison, Gonbad-e Kavus Prison, Qaemshahr Prison, Rasht Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Rudsar Prison, Haviq Prison of Talesh, Azbaram Prison of Lahijan, Dizel Abad Prison of Kermanshah, Ardabil Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Salmas Prison, Khoy Prison, Naqadeh Prison, Miandoab Prison, Mahabad Prison, Bukan Prison, Saqqez Prison, Baneh Prison, Marivan Prison, Sanandaj Prison, Kamyaran Prison, Ilam Prison, and Kerman Prison.
