Political prisoner chained to bed in the emergency room.

The political prisoner chained to bed is Abol-Hassan Montazer sent to hospital under viciously inhuman conditions from Rajaei-Shahr Prison, in Karaj.

Political prisoner Abol-Hassan Montazer was sent to hospital on Saturday, November 20, 2021, when he was in critical health due to acute heart conditions.

Abol-Hassan Montazer is 61 years old, suffering from diabetes. He needs to receive an insulin injection every 12 hours.

Mr. Montazer has clogged arteries in his legs and arms and is constantly experiencing burning and cold in the bones. He recently underwent an open heart surgery.

The forensics organization has confirmed that he cannot endure prison conditions, nevertheless, he remains in detention.

Mr. Montazer is hospitalized in the emergency department with his hands and legs chained to bed. Prison guards refuse to open his cuffs despite his complaint that the cuffs burn his skin.

Political prisoner Abol-Hassan Montazer decided to return to prison when his complaints did not get anywhere.

Born in 1959, political prisoner Abol-Hassan Montazer was arrested in 2018 on the charge of having contacts with the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). He was interrogated in Evin Prison and sentenced to five years in prison.

He was temporarily released from prison on a heavy bail but was rearrested in November 2020 and is presently detained in Rajaei-Shahr Prison.
