Concerns Over the Continued Use of the Death Penalty
These recent executions underscore Iran’s persistent use of capital punishment, demanding urgent attention from the international community to pressure the Iranian authorities to halt these practices. The country continues to have one of the highest execution rates globally, particularly for drug-related offenses.
Reports suggest that many prisoners are coerced into confessing to crimes they did not commit, leading to their execution. This situation highlights the urgent need for increased international scrutiny and pressure to compel Iran to end its use of the death penalty.
