In recent weeks, a significant wave of executions has been reported in various prisons across Iran. According to available information, at least 29 prisoners have been executed since mid-January 2025. This alarming trend raises serious concerns about human rights violations and the lack of transparency in the execution of death sentences.
Execution of a Female Prisoner in Khorramabad Prison
Among the reported cases, the execution of Maryam Kaviani in Parsilon Prison, Khorramabad, has drawn particular attention. She was arrested on murder charges and sentenced to death. Her execution was carried out at dawn on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Notably, no official news of her execution has been published by domestic media or judicial authorities.
Continued Executions in Yasuj, Shiraz, and Other Cities
in Yasuj Prison, Mohammad Zaboli, a 45-year-old prisoner who had been detained since 2019 on murder charges, was executed on Thursday, January 30, 2025. Additionally, in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz, five prisoners—Amir Fanaei, Hamid Fanaei, Mohammad Ali Heidari, Rasoul Minaei, and Khosro Abbaszadeh—were executed on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. These individuals had been sentenced to death for murder.
Furthermore, Mostafa Aminnejad, a construction contractor who was arrested three years ago on drug-related charges, was executed in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz, on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Like many other cases, his execution was carried out without any official announcement from judicial sources.
Executions in Other Prisons
Two other prisoners, Hojjat Panahi and Hamid Jahangiri, were executed in Rasht and Malayer prisons. Hojjat Panahi, 38, who had been sentenced to death for murder, was executed in Lakan Prison, Rasht, on Saturday, January 27, 2025. Hamid Jahangiri, 36, who was arrested on drug-related charges, was executed at dawn on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in Malayer Prison.
In Qeze- Hesar Prison, three prisoners—Farzad Mirzaei, Samad Hashemi, and Farhad Fardini—were executed on Sunday, January 26, 2025. These three individuals, all from Harsin, had been arrested seven years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.
