Anti-riot guards raided political prisoners in Qarchak Prison who are detained in ward 8, taking away Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee.
At least 20 male and female guards accompanied the new warden of Qarchak, Soghra Khodadadi, attacking political prisoners in ward 8. They attacked the prisoners in conditions that they did not have proper covering to face male guards. Some of the guards involved in this attack were Samira Ilkhani, Khoshraftar, Karami, and Gharegozlou.
Prison guards brutalized all the inmates in ward 8 with batons and stun guns.
Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee had refused in the past two-three weeks to be transferred to Ward 2A of Evin for interrogation. It is suspected that the IRGC is planning to fabricate a new case against her. The warden of Qarchak resorted to force in order to move Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee from Qarchak Prison and transfer her to Evin.
The raid by anti-riot guards was met with protest and resistance of other prisoners. But prison guards clashed with the inmates and beat them by batons and stun guns.
In this violent raid, Zahra Safaei, Parastoo Mo’ini, Forough Taghipour, Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee, and several other political prisoners were badly injured.
Political prisoner Zahra Safaei was hit and hurt in the head by batons. Her forearms are also bruised all over.
Parastoo Mo’ini who went to defend Golrokh and her mother, Zahra Safaei, was taken by the hair and dragged on the floor. They wanted to take her out of the ward, but other prisoners helped free her from clutches of the guards.
Parastoo Mo’ini has also been bruised in both calves. She also feels pain in the chest due to beating by stun guns.
Prison guards also held political prisoner Forough Taghipour by her hands and feet and threw her from one side of the cell to the other side.
Another inmate in this ward, Maryam Ebrahimvand was also hurt in the left calf and her back is bruised.
Marzieh Farsi who was sick and under supervision of doctor was also hurt in the chest as a result of guards’ beatings.
Saba Kordafshari was hurt in the teeth, and her shoulder and back are bruised.
The guards finally brutalized and took Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee by force out of the ward and transferred her to Ward 2A of Evin Prison.
Reports indicate that the telephones in ward 8 were cut off from Saturday until Tuesday, to prevent the news of this raid on political prisoners from leaking out. Families of prisoners went to the prison to get news of their loved ones but they were told by prison guards that the prisoners did not want to have visitations.
During the guards’ raid on ward 8, the prisoners in other wards defended the rights of these women. They banged on the walls and chanted “death to the dictator.”
Following the attack by anti-riot guards and beating of political prisoners, a large number of them were badly hurt, but after four days, they have been denied medical care and treatment.
The new warden of Qarchak Prison has increased pressure on political prisoners since taking office.
